All my life I’ve been in constant battle with the skin condition known as eczema. We all are aware that life is balance and through struggle I’ve gotten better at this balancing act which allows my skin to see periods of prosperity. But, again, with balance there will be periods of conflict where a visible war is ever raging upon my skin.
When treating my skin, I’ve gone through the entire gamut of medicinal treatments, including holistic methods. As my wisdom expands, I also want to steer clear of many of the prescriptions and new medicines like Dupixent. Candidly, this is due to my lack of trust in pharmaceuticals and the governing bodies of medicine. With my rich experience in cannabis, I now turn to Rick Simpson Oil as a potential ally in treating my beloved skin.
History of Rick Simpson Oil
The story of Rick Simpson Oil (RSO) began with Rick Simpson, a Canadian cannabis activist, who used the oil to successfully treat his own skin cancer. Inspired by his own experience, Simpson began sharing his knowledge and advocating for the use of RSO as a natural alternative treatment. Since then, many individuals have turned to RSO as a potential remedy for a wide range of ailments.
Benefits of Rick Simpson Oil
Rick Simpson Oil is believed to provide several potential benefits:
- Cancer Treatment: RSO has gained significant attention for its potential anti-tumor properties. THC, the active compound in cannabis, has shown promise in inducing apoptosis, or cell death, in cancer cells. This has led to speculation that RSO could be used as an alternative to traditional chemotherapy.
- Pain Relief: RSO’s high concentration of THC makes it effective in providing relief from chronic pain. THC binds to CB1 receptors in the body’s endocannabinoid system, helping to reduce pain perception.
- Anxiety and Depression Relief: RSO’s cannabinoids, including THC and CBD, have been shown to have potential anti-anxiety and anti-depressant properties. These compounds interact with the brain’s CB1 receptors, helping to regulate mood and reduce anxiety.
- Neuroprotective Properties: RSO may have neuroprotective properties that help protect the brain from damage caused by diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. The cannabinoids in RSO act as antioxidants, reducing oxidative stress in the brain and potentially improving cognitive function.
- Anti-inflammatory Properties: RSO’s anti-inflammatory properties can help decrease inflammation throughout the body, benefiting those with with conditions such as arthritis, Crohn’s disease, and multiple sclerosis.
Risks and Considerations
While RSO shows promise, it’s crucial to be aware of potential risks and consult with healthcare professionals before use:
- Psychoactive Effects: RSO’s high THC content can result in psychoactive effects and impairment. It’s essential to use the oil responsibly and be mindful of its potency.
- Legal Status: The legal status of cannabis and its derivatives vary by jurisdiction. Before using RSO, it’s crucial to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations.
- Side Effects: Some individuals may experience side effects like dizziness, dry mouth, and increased heart rate when using RSO. It’s important to start with small doses and monitor the body’s response.
Current Uses
Beyond the aforementioned benefits, RSO has been reported to provide relief for epilepsy, insomnia, migraines, and more. However, it’s important to note that anecdotal evidence should be considered preliminary, and further research is needed to substantiate these claims.
There are numerous anecdotes from individuals who credit RSO with significant improvements in their health conditions.
My Experience With Rick Simpson Oil
Now after digesting all this wonderful information, I’d like to share my personal experience with Rick Simpson Oil.
I’ve managed to acquire a small vial of it in the past as a gift from a friend who knew I had eczema. I am a cannabis veteran and in already knowing Rick Simpson Oil’s use as a cure for skin cancer, I decided to try it. The oil came in a small vial which had a dropper attached to the lid. I used the dropper to put the oil in my blunt (yes, this was probably not the best way of consumption). Needless to say, the high was savage and do remember, I’m a veteran.
I did not notice any major differences in my skin but at the same time, my skin was already pristine. Days later, I put the remaining oil under my tongue. Those two times I tried the oil, my skin was already feeling and looking good.
I would like to try the oil again, this time when my eczema flares but I’ve yet to find more.
Conclusion
Rick Simpson Oil holds immense potential as an alternative treatment option for various medical conditions. With its reported benefits, including potential cancer treatment, pain relief, and neuroprotective properties, it’s no wonder that RSO has gained popularity. However, it’s important to weigh the risks, follow legal protocols, and consult with healthcare professionals before incorporating RSO into any treatment plan. As research in this field continues to evolve, RSO may become an integral part of holistic and alternative medicine.
