Books Not Bookies: Volume 2

Books Not Bookies

The Power of One More by Ed Mylett

I’ll start by saying this book was and is so important to me. Although I do not personally know Ed Mylett, his podcasts and teachings are something of tremendous value, to not only my daily routine but the expansion of my business and success acumen. Within these pages resides Mylett’s ideology on success, in a straight forward, easy to read format. Other than the Secret, no other book has helped synergize the success I’ve experienced on my current elevated trajectory.

The Illuminated Breath by Dylan Werner

We survive 30 days no food, 7 days without water and 3 minutes without oxygen. This shows that breathing is the most important. And breathing is something we can manage throughout our daily lives. With my stressful line of work, learning how to breath and improving my current breathing were things that became important. The Illuminated Breath is a compilation of breathing techniques and exercises, from various cultures. Using this book, one will have control over their breathing. This will enhance one’s life.

Never Finished by David Goggins

Forget his toughness I’ve always liked the unfiltered, straight forwardness of David Goggins. And this starts with his mindset. Goggins calls it a “Savage Mentality”. We all can go harder and dig deeper in every area of our life. So, what better way to learn from and draw inspiration from than to read David Goggins’ second book, Never Finished. Yeah, this is his second book, probably written off the back of his first book doing so well. I recommend reading his first book, Can’t Hurt Me. And I dare say it’s better, especially if you’re seeking INSPIRATION. Callous your mind!

Tremendous: The Life of a Comedy Savage by Joey Diaz

Although I don’t spend much time watching comedy, I absolutely love comedians. They represent society’s best thinkers. And in turn, they can speak on the fucked-up aspects of our society. As the saying goes, “You catch more flies with honey than vinegar.” It’s the gift of having the gift of making anything and everything funny. Joey Diaz has this gift in abundance. Uncle Joey has gone through anything and everything: food, drugs, hardships and obstacles, the whole gamut that creates a comedian. In his commentary (if you read it in his voice too), Uncle Joey curates a wonderful comedic experience for readers. Again, many comedians have hard lives, and this provided me with a lot of inspiration. You know, laughed my ass off while lighting a fire under it too. Tremendous.

High Performance Habits by Brendan Burchard

I live to improve. I am ever searching for gems, for gold, for treasure within the pages of these books. Therefore, books or podcasts are treasure hoards. I was familiar with Brendan Burchard as I had read The Motivation Manifesto and High-Performance Habits caught by attention when I saw Burchard on Ed Mylett’s podcast. Glad I did because this book brings success as close to science as possible. Burchard studied the habits of high performers and using math and science (smart people shit) was able to narrow down the habits and qualities of high performers. “If you want to know want to know the road ahead, ask those returning.” And now, we have this information.

Earthing: The Most Important Health Discovery Ever? by Clinton Ober, Martin Zucker, and Stephen Sinatra

I’m always looking for ways to improve my mental, physical, and spiritual health. The practice of Grounding has helped me tremendously. Grounding is the transfer of electrons from the Earth to the body. These electrons help to neutralize free radicals, which are unstable molecules that can damage cells. Our body is composed of cells, therefore grounding helps improve all bodily functions! I have eczema. At times, I experience trouble sleeping. I’m also sore/hurt quite often as I’ve worked out most of my life. Grounding really helps with all these ailments. It reduces inflammation and discomfort caused by my eczema. I sleep on a grounding mat and this helps me sleep like a baby. Lastly, grounding helps alleviate pain caused by pushing my body to its limits; my rest and recovery is positively impacted by grounding.

Gambler: Secrets from a Life at Risk by Billy Walters

Billy Walters is someone who gives me much inspiration. One can even say I aspire to achieve a lot of the same success in the realm of sports betting. Yeah, it doesn’t get more inspirational than learning the story of Mr. Walters, a sports bettor worth hundreds of millions of dollars. My intent is reverse engineering the ways successful people achieved their success. This goes for all the media I consume and every book in this article.

The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren

My faith in God has been a major factor in my life. God has always been a force in my life. It was my perception of God that ultimately changed due to some life circumstances to which this book was a part of. And it was The Purpose Driven Life that helped shift my thinking of God as the Creator, who I have been tremendously grateful for. The shift in thinking came in that now I look at God as an ally in everything I do. So, whatever I’m doing — any undertaking, endeavor, activity, or whatever — If I cannot talk to God or ask for God’s favor in these things, then I should not be doing it.

The Wolf of Investing by Jordan Belfort

Sure, I’m not ashamed to admit that before reading this book I had little knowledge on investing, particularly mutual funds. I hadn’t taken the time to think or plan LONG TERM. I wasn’t aware of the power behind investing a mutual fund and letting it compound for the long-term. I wasn’t aware of the security and less risk involved in mutual funds, as they ultimately are backed by the United States’ largest, strongest companies and the United States’ government.

In turn, learning about this aspect of investing brought me to Infinite Banking — the strategy of using Whole Life Insurance Policies to become one’s own bank and maintain generational wealth.

100M Leads by Alex Hormozi

No one can predict the future in its entirety. I’ve been earning great money through sports betting and God is on my side, so I pray for continuous, increasing success so I may continuously serve others. If I want to reach the most people, I will eventually have to turn my MMA picks into a service/product. 100M Leads provided me with proven strategies on how to get my service/product into the most hands. The more people following Bolo, the more money they have, the more time they have. I pray they use that extra time to develop themselves.

The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale

God blessed me in the acquisition of this book. By chance, my local bookstore happened to have the original copy.

This is what I am currently reading and thus far I’ve found much gold. I can’t wait to share these treasures with the world, in the form of personal application and also in writing Books Not Bookies Volume 3.
